Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse Clinical Mentor for the following Acute Care areas: ICU, PCU, Medical and Surgical. This is a Part-Time, Nights (2 – 8 hr. shifts) role.

As a Clinical Mentor, you will develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care. To help achieve our mission, you will orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities. Providing support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment is required. Your ability to integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members is of vital importance. Participating in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians is expected.
Schedule: Part-time, Nights (2 – 8 hour shifts) Will also be required to work clinically on a home unit for 1-2 (12hours) per shift.
Requirements: Requires a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in clinical nursing in designated specialty. Experience serving as preceptor.
Minimum Education Requirement: BSN (Bachelors Degree of Nursing) from an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum Licensure: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Certification Requirement: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in ICU, PCU, and/or Medical/Surgical.
- Experience with teaching, mentoring, and coaching nursing staff, especially new graduate and novice nurses within the clinical acute setting.
- Proficient in English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others.
- Proficient computer skills required.
